Hveradalir Trail starts in Kerlingarfjöll Highland Base nestled in the landscapes of Ásgarður, it's an exhilarating trek for those who seek an unforgattable hiking experience. This well-trodden 7km path, with its well-marked signs, beckons both seasoned hikers and first-time visitors to explore the allure of Kerlingarfjöll and Hveradalir.

The trail takes hikers on a scenic descent into a picturesque valley, leading them over the shoulder of a snow-covered mountain, offering an invigorating challenge along the way. Eventually, the path reaches a significant juncture, marked by a large metal sign pointing in multiple directions. A left turn leads hikers into the captivating realm of Hveradalir, an otherworldly geothermal area with a network of paths crisscrossing the hills, unveiling stunning vistas in all directions.

Exploring Hveradalir reveals a surreal landscape: bubbling blue rivers carve their way around striking red rhyolite mountains, while vibrant green moss clings to rusty rocks, adding to the scene's vivid contrasts. Yellow scars in the earth vent steam into the crisp air, and boiling pots of grey mud create a mystical vibe throughout the valley. After completing the invigorating hike through the mesmerizing landscapes, many adventurers find blissful relaxation by indulging in a refreshing jump into the inviting free hot spring located just 1.5 kilometres upstream from the Highland Base. Following a simple, well-signed trail along the riverbank, adventurers can indulge in a soothing soak to ease their tired limbs after the trek.
