Bjólfur Track is a steep, rugged mountain road climbing toward the summit of Bjólfur Mountain, offering panoramic views over Seyðisfjörður and ending near the “Bjólfur avalanche barriers.” This is not an official F-road but a very challenging mountain track—narrow, unpaved, and exposed—recommended only for experienced drivers in large 4×4 vehicles.
There are no river crossings along the route, but the incline is sharp, and passing other vehicles can be difficult due to the limited space. Open only in snow-free months, this high-altitude trail is not suitable for small cars or those uneasy with heights. Always confirm with your rental company whether driving this track is covered by insurance, as many policies exclude non-F marked routes.
