Smart Tips Before You Arrive
- 4×4 etiquette: Krossá crossings are notoriously dangerous—even for beefy SUVs. Check with wardens or road.is before driving in.
- Booking: Hut beds must be reserved in advance (with refund policy windows), but camping is always first-come, first-served once open for the season
- Leave no trace: Protect fragile mountain vegetation by using designated cooking and tent area
✹ The biggest obstacle when visiting Langidalur Campsite is Krossá River, which lies right before the campsite. However, if you're planning a day visit or staying overnight in the hut or tent, there's no need to cross Krossá by car — you can simply park before the river and use the pedestrian footbridge to reach the campsite.
If you're traveling in a campervan and don’t feel confident crossing Krossá, we recommend choosing Básar Campsite, which is accessible without crossing this river.
