Á Skarðsströnd Campsite

Á Skarðsströnd Campsite is a seasonal campground located on the southern shore of Breiðafjörður fjord near the small community area of Skarðsströnd in West Iceland. The site is set in a scenic natural environment with birch woodland, coastal views, and plenty of opportunities for birdwatching and walking.

Facilities

The campsite provides practical services for campers during the summer season:

• A new service building with hot and cold water, toilets, showers, and electricity hookups (24 outlets).
• An older section in a small forest with toilet and cold water only.
• A large old barn available for guest use, with tables and chairs, cooking facilities, a microwave, washing machine, and indoor space to prepare food.
• Walking paths nearby, including routes leading to views over Breiðafjörður and the surrounding countryside.

The campsite is situated near farm buildings and woodland on the south side of Breiðafjörður, an area known for its birdlife, walking trails, and coastal scenery. Its wooded older area and newer service facilities make it a comfortable choice for nature‑focused camping in a quiet rural setting.
