Húsafell Campsite

Húsafell Campsite is a well-established, family-friendly campground set within the Húsafell nature and recreation area in West Iceland, surrounded by birch forest and close to dramatic landscapes including lava fields and glacier-fed valleys.

Facilities

The campsite is open from early June to late September each year and offers a solid range of services for a comfortable summer stay:

• Restrooms, showers, and hot & cold water in a service building.
• Electric hook-ups at around 70 pitches for tents and camper vans.
• Laundry and basic kitchen facilities are available on site.
• The site is wooded and shaded, offering spacious grassy areas for pitching tents or parking campervans.

Location & Surroundings

Húsafell Campsite is within walking distance of local amenities such as the swimming pool, golf course, playground, grocery store, and restaurant—all part of the broader Húsafell service area.  The surrounding landscape is known for hiking routes, waterfalls, caves, and nearby natural attractions including Hraunfossar and Barnafoss.

The campsite’s forested setting and range of facilities make it suitable for families, couples, and outdoor travellers who want good infrastructure while still being close to Iceland’s rugged nature. Saturdays in summer often feature a community bonfire, adding a social atmosphere to the stay.
