The Borgarfjörður Eystri Campsite is a picturesque and well-equipped campground located in the charming village of Bakkagerði, East Iceland. Nestled at the foot of Álfaborg, the legendary "City of Elves," this campsite offers a unique blend of natural beauty and local folklore.‍

Facilities

• Service Buildings: Two service buildings are available, one featuring a reception area, communal space with a small library and board games, a kitchen, and a laundry room; the other includes toilets and two coin-operated showers.
• Amenities: The campsite offers hot and cold water, cooking facilities, waste disposal for mobile homes, a washing machine, and wheelchair accessibility.
• Electrical Hookups: 40 electrical hookups are available for campers.
• Recreation: Adjacent to the campsite is a 9-hole disc golf course, and a fun bouncing mattress is located nearby for children's entertainment.
• Pets: Dogs are allowed on the grounds.

Location & Attractions

The campsite is situated in Bakkagerði, a village renowned for its proximity to the Víknaslóðir hiking trails, offering over 160 kilometers of marked paths through stunning landscapes.  Additionally, the area is home to a large puffin colony, particularly at Hafnarhólmi rock near the harbor (April-August)

The campsite operates from May 15 to October 15, providing a comfortable base for exploring East Iceland during the warmer months.
