This 10-day Iceland campervan itinerary includes the remote beauty of the Westfjords, the dramatic landscapes of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, highland adventures along Kjalvegur, geothermal wonders of Kerlingarfjöll, colorful rhyolite mountains in Landmannalaugar, and the iconic sights of Iceland’s scenic South Coast — all tailored for 4x4 vehicles during the summer F-road season (July-August).
Day 1: Reykjavik → Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Morning: Stroll around Reykjavik (Hallgrímskirkja, harbor, coffee at Reykjavík Roasters), buy groceries, fuel up.
Quick stops: Gullfoss, Hrunalaug hot spring for evening soak
Camp: Geysir Campsite or quiet Álfaskeið Campsite

Day 7: Golden Circle → Landmannalaugar
Morning: Visit in early hours to avoid the crowd:
Kerið Crater
Geysir geothermal area
Refuel: Selfoss – stock up on fuel & food
Highland Entry: Via road 32 → F-road adventure:
Hjálparfoss, Háifoss, or hidden Sigöldugljúfur, Sigoldufoss
Bláhylur (Hnausapollur) crater lake
Last Leg: F224 to Landmannalaugar Campsite (river crossing before entry!
Hike: Bláhnjúkur, Brennisteinsalda, or full loop or leave it till next day!
Evening: Soak in natural hot river near the Campsite.

Day 8: Landmannalaugar Hike → Thakgil
Morning: (Hike:

Afternoon:
Take F208 south (multiple stream crossings!)
Refuel at Kirkjubæjarklaustur if needed.
Drive to Vík direction
Stop: Hjörleifshöfði (Yoda Cave)
Camp: Þakgil Campsite – remote canyon setting

Day 9: South Coast Gems & Puffins
Morning Options:
Hikes in Þakgil
Katla Ice Cave tour
Coffee: Skool Beans (Vík’s school bus café)
Highlights:
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Dyrhólaey Puffin Lookout (early/late best for puffins)
Sólheimajökull Glacier, Kvernufoss, and mighty Skógafoss
Camp: Skógafoss Campsite (sleep to the roar of the falls)

Day 10: Waterfall Finale → Reykjavik
Morning Stops:
Seljalandsfoss
Gljúfrabúi (hidden waterfall)
Nauthúsafoss (lush ravine gem)
Drive Back: Return to Reykjavik
Final Soak: Choose a relaxing lagoon:
Blue Lagoon or Sky Lagoon
Return Vehicle & Farewell Iceland!
