Flateyri Campsite

Flateyri Campsite is a town campground in the village of Flateyri in the Westfjords. It’s set just below the village’s avalanche protection wall and offers views over Önundarfjörður fjord.

Flateyri is a historic fishing village with restaurants, a grocery store, cafés, and a swimming pool with hot tubs all within about 5 minutes’ walk from the campsite. The village also features cultural sights like an old bookstore and local museums.

The avalanche wall behind the site creates a sheltered spot for campers, and from the top of the wall there are views over the fjord and village.

Flateyri Campsite generally operates seasonally in summer (roughly mid‑May to mid‑September), and services are simple compared with larger Westfjords campgrounds. It’s a good base for exploring local trails, kayaking, fishing, and the quiet character of the fjord town.
