Road Conditions and Vehicle Requirements:

  • Surface: F899 is a rough and challenging gravel track characterized by large potholes, numerous ruts, and sizable boulders. Expect large potholes, many ruts, and large boulders on their surface.
  • Terrain: The route includes steep sections and uneven surfaces, requiring careful navigation.​
  • River Crossings: Travelers will encounter several river crossings along F899. At the time of our visit, in the end of August, the biggest river crossing at F899 could be classified as a medium-sized river crossing.

  • Vehicle Necessity: A high-clearance 4x4 vehicle is mandatory due to the rough terrain and river crossings. Driving in a small passenger car is simply and plainly irresponsible and can be very dangerous.

  • Traffic: This road is extremely remote and seldom traveled, so encountering other vehicles is unlikely. Expect to be alone; this track is not very busy. ​
