Pollurinn Hot Spring is a hidden gem in the Westfjords, located just outside the village of Tálknafjörður. Nestled against a mountainside, this geothermal oasis offers a peaceful retreat with stunning views of the sea and surrounding landscapes. Unlike more commercialized hot springs, Pollurinn is free to visit and remains relatively uncrowded, making it an ideal spot for those seeking relaxation in nature.
The hot spring consists of four concrete pools of varying sizes and depths, painted in calming shades of blue. Water temperatures range from 36°C (97°F) to 46°C (115°F), with a hose available to cool the pools if needed. A small rustic changing room and a shower are on-site for convenience. The mineral-rich waters help soothe sore muscles, making it a great stop after a day of exploring.
Pollurinn’s remote location adds to its charm. Visitors can often spot seabirds and, in winter, even catch a glimpse of the northern lights. Accessible only by car, the hot spring is about a five-hour drive from Reykjavík, with the nearest airport in Bíldudalur, just an hour away. Whether you're hiking nearby trails or simply looking for a quiet soak, Pollurinn offers a true Icelandic hot spring experience.
