Melanes Campsite

Melanes Campsite is the campground at Rauðasandur beach in the southern Westfjords of Iceland. It’s located on a green area right by the wide sandy beach, with views toward the Látrabjarg bird cliffs and easy access to coastal walking paths.

Melanes is the only official campsite at Rauðasandur, set next to one of Iceland’s largest sandy beaches with seal colonies often visible on the shore and a variety of wildlife and hiking options nearby.

The site is typically open from mid‑May to mid‑September, matching the Icelandic summer travel season.
