Djúpavík Campsite and Hotel

Djúpavík Campsite is a campground located beside Hotel Djúpavík at the head of Reykjarfjörður Bay in the remote Strandir area of the Westfjords. The historic settlement of Djúpavík was once a thriving herring station and fish‑processing centre, and today the hotel and campground serve visitors exploring this tranquil part of Iceland.

Location & Surroundings

Djúpavík is a remote village on the Strandir coast in Árneshreppur — one of Iceland’s least populated municipalities.  The campsite lies near the end of Route 643 and offers dramatic views of the fjord and mountains. The area is known for the historic Djúpavík herring factory, now a cultural site, and hiking opportunities including paths to Djúpavíkurfoss waterfall nearby.
