Geysir Camping sits in the beautiful Haukadalur valley, right beside the famed Geysir geothermal area. It’s a peaceful spot across from Geysir Bistro, the coffeehouse, and the Geysir store. Guests can walk to Strokkur geyser, the Haukadalur forest, Hotel Geysir, restaurants, and even a golf course.
The campsite has a service house featuring showers, toilets, laundry facilities, and waste disposal. A children’s playground is located next to it. About half of the pitch area provides electricity hookups, while the lower section is reserved for tents only.
The site is open from May 15 to September 15, 2025. The service center’s hours are 08:00–11:00 and 17:00–22:00 until June 12, then adjust to 08:00–11:00 and 17:00–21:00 from June 13 onward. Showers are available from 08:00–10:30 and 17:00–21:30. However, washing machines, toilets, and the playground remain accessible at all times.
Rates for 2025 are:
Payment is made upon arrival at the service house. Motor vehicles are not allowed between midnight and 08:00, and the campsite enforces quiet hours starting at midnight. Visitors must avoid damaging nature, dispose of rubbish properly, and pre-pay for any electricity usage. Violations may result in expulsion. Children must be supervised at all times, including in the playground.
The site is surrounded by a wealth of activities. Guests can enjoy cycling, hiking, glacier tours on Langjökull, natural hot spring swims, highland excursions, and horseback riding. Additional options include river rafting, river jet boating, salmon fishing, visiting a multimedia nature exhibit, and golfing.
