Gaddstaðaflatir Camping, located just outside the village of Hella, is a roomy and well-equipped site rooted in Iceland’s rich equestrian tradition. Previously used for the National Icelandic Horse Competition (Landsmót hestamanna), it's now accessible to the public and particularly appealing to those with a Camping Card.
The campground offers a new toilet house and a service building complete with cooking facilities and indoor dining space—perfect for preparing and enjoying meals. Electricity is available at most pitches, along with Wi-Fi, cold water, and hot water in the kitchen area. Pets are allowed on a leash.
Set in a dry meadow with raised earth edges and young trees, the campsite provides an open, natural ambiance. It’s just 200–300 meters south of Stracta Hotel—take the road marked “Gaddstaðaflatir” and you’ll find it on your left. Despite being a peaceful escape, Hella’s swimming pool, shops, and services remain within easy reach.
The campsite operates from May 15 to September 15. In 2025, the fee is approximately 2,450 ISK per adult, while children aged 15 and under stay free. Seniors and those with disabilities enjoy a reduced rate of 1,500 ISK. Electricity costs around 1,300 ISK for 24 hours, and a lodging tax of 400 ISK applies per sleeping unit.
