Krosslaug Laugarnesi Birkimel

Krosslaug, commonly known as the “Hot Pool of the Cross,” is a hidden gem near Laugarnesi/Birkimelur in the Westfjords—two geothermal pools (one concrete, one natural) warmed to around 37 °C, set against stunning ocean and Snæfellsnes Peninsula views. Legend holds Vikings were baptized here around 1000 AD, giving the site its name. A small fee (500–1 700 ISK) grants access, and changing facilities are basic or sometimes closed—so come prepared, bring your own towel, and enjoy a nearly private soak in truly serene surroundings.
